Whilst not quite up there with its younger brother the Sound 53 in terms of playback options, the Roberts Sound 43 nevertheless fits a CD player, DAB and FM receiver and iPod dock into a compact tabletop radio.

The Roberts Sound 43 sports a glossy piano black finish in a timber cabinet. There's a hint of retro with the touch panel keys below a bright blue display.

The CD player handles MP3 and WMA encoded tracks and a handy alarm lets you use the Roberts Sound 43 in the bedroom, too. You can also hook up your Creative (or any other non-iPod brand) MP3 player and listen through headphones. iPod users simply drop their player into the built-in dock of the Sound 43.

Bass and treble can be trimmed using a 6 band equaliser and there are twenty presets for radio stations, plus RDS station naming on FM.
