Pure XT1 add-on speaker
The XT-1 speaker plugs into the Evoke 1XT, Sonus 1XT or Tempus 1XT to give stereo sound. Apparently, four in ten users opt for the XT1 additional speaker after buying their single-speaker radio. I've been using mine for a couple of months now with my Evoke 1-XT and it's not difficult to see why listeners plump for this addition.
There's nothing wrong with the sound of a mono Evoke unless you are looking for stereo sound through the unit rather than through headphones, in which case the ported speaker is a worthwhile addition. Stereo sound is more impressive on a station such as The Arrow, or on more intricate pieces on BBC Radio 3. If you listen to mono-only DAB stations such as Five Live Sports Extra, the upgrade will be of little importance.
The XT-1 speaker is supplied with an impressive 3 metres of extension cable, with a 3.5mm plug at one end to connect straight into the external speaker socket on the back of the Pure radios.
Build quality, along with other Pure products, is excellent. The speaker is finished in exactly the same way as the radio, comes in maple and cherrywood variations and is ported to the rear to improve bass response.
The XT-1 speaker works with the Pure Sonus 1-XT, Pure Tempus 1-XT and Pure Evoke 1-XT.
