The attractive Pure Oasis keeps operation simple - there are just a handful of buttons above a large, waterproof speaker on the front of the unit. A grab handle on the rear edge lets you lug the Oasis around, while rubber covers protect the headphone, USB, and AUX in sockets from water.

You would almost certainly get away with submersing the Oasis in water - we wouldn't suggest you do this other than by accident - but it is reassuring to know the radio will cope with rain, mud and more than just water splashes in everyday use around the bathroom and garden.

The Pure Oasis is just about the right size - not so big as to be cumbersome, it is physically smaller than its 'official' photograph suggests and comes with a handy 3.5mm stereo auxiliary input for connection of an MP3 player and other devices. Rubbery buttons are big enough to find with shampoo in your eyes and give a reassuring micro-switched click. Five presets are on-hand, while below volume controls and a further station selector are easily to turn.

Info and menu buttons bring up ubiquitous station and multiplex information and the clean white fascia turns into a perforated cover to protect the mono speaker behind.

Alarm functions are sadly lacking, but to be honest the Oasis is a little large to be considered as a clock radio! Best go for the Chronos, instead.
