Pure DTM 300 slimline vertical DAB digital micro system 10th December 2005
Overview
Pure Digital's "lifestyle" DAB digital micro system - the Pure DTM-300 DAB system - is hitting the shelves around now. Pure have plumped for a vertically-mounted CD player above a DAB Band III digital radio tuner - and have kept FM into the bargain as well.
The Pure DTM-300 DAB micro is designed to sit on narrow shelves - in the lounge or bedroom as a primary system - or on worktops - ideal for the kitchen as a second audio system. Its speakers are integrated, dispensing with trailing wires, but a handy remote control is included in the package.
The Pure Digital DTM-300's single, vertically-mounted CD player spins CD-recordable and CD-rewriteable formats and will happily read MP3 files with ID3 tagging. The CD door opens at the press of a button. Around the back, there's a spare AUX line-level input, allowing you to connect an external device such as a standalone MP3 player or tape deck, for example.
The speaker cabinets, like the Pure Evoke 1XT, are ported, which helps give the DTM-300 extra low-down presence and separate tweeters and woofers mean the DTM-300 split the low and midrange frequencies from the treble. Bass and treble controls are also provided for listener tweaks. Power is quoted at 6.5 Watts RMS per channel, which is fine for modestly-sized rooms.
The Pure Digital DTM 300's FM tuner features RDS station naming and scrolling RadioText, while up to 9 presets can be stored on FM and 9 on DAB Band III. There's a high contrast backlit black-on-blue display for station naming and scrolling text information.
The Pure DTM-300 system is available to buy now at around GBP190.00.
