A familiar line-up of stations is taking shape as part of separate proposals submitted by Now Digital and MuxCo to run the local DAB digital radio multiplex serving Northamptonshire.

Northants 96, Classic Gold 1557 and Connect FM are proposed by both companies in their separate applications, joined by "play what we want" brand Jack FM and new roads information service Traffic Radio.

MuxCo are also offering modern rock station Xfm capacity on the multiplex if their application is successful, however if GCap Media would prefer to save costs by hosting X on their own multiplex if Now Digital win, MuxCo have lined up a youth-orientated station instead.

MuxCo are proposing a start date of October 2008 for its DAB services, with three transmitters, with NOW Digital opting for a September 2008 launch and three transmitters. The radio regulator, Ofcom, will announce the winner of the multiplex later this year.
