Sunday, 17th September 2006 Mid and North Wales will be the last FMs
Ofcom has made it clear that one or two commercial FM licences for Mid and North Wales are the last that will be advertised for the time being.
The regulator recently announced an FM licence for Herefordshire and Monmouthshire.
The media regulator will be concentrating on the next round of small-scale community radio licences, which are also broadcast on the FM waveband. The announcement brings to an end the regular award of commercial licences in the UK, since the launch of Capital Radio in October 1973.
