Sunday, 23rd April 2006 National commercial DAB operator switches on transmitter in southwest Wales.
Sports talk station talkSPORT, pop and rock music station Virgin Radio and spoken word station Oneword can now be heard in new areas of southwest Wales, thanks to the switch on of a new transmitter.
The new DAB digital radio transmitter, based at Preseli, offers reception of national DAB commercial stations to around 140,000 listeners and is the one hundredth transmitter switched on by Digital One - the national DAB digital commercial radio operator.
The switch on means that Virgin Radio is now being broadcast in stereo on DAB digital radio in and around Presili.
Following the switch-on of the new digital radio transmitter, listeners with a DAB digital radio in the above areas should now be able to pick up the national digital services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their DAB-enabled tuner or radio. The list of stations available is as follows: Classic FM
