Thursday, 13th April 2006 National commercial DAB operator switches on transmitter in Cumbria.
Classic rock music station Planet Rock, eclectic pop music station Life and spoken word station Oneword can now be heard in new areas of Cumbria, thanks to the switch on of a new transmitter.
The new DAB digital radio transmitter, based at Penrith, offers reception of national DAB commercial stations to around 80,000 listeners.
The switch on means that Virgin Radio is now being broadcast in stereo on DAB digital radio in and around Penrith.
Following the switch-on of the new digital radio transmitter, listeners with a DAB digital radio in the above areas should now be able to pick up the national digital services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their DAB-enabled tuner or radio. The list of stations available is as follows: Classic FM
