The switch on of a new transmitter, based at Blaenplwyf, covers around 34,000 people in and around the town.
The addition of the transmitter allows a full set of the national services from the BBC to be heard on a DAB digital radio in and around the area.
The news follows new transmitters from the national commercial multiplex operator in Kendal, East Anglia, Great Yarmouth and Blaenplwyf in December 2005. The BBC also switched on its own transmitter for Redruth in Cornwall.
Listeners with a DAB digital radio in and around the area can receive the new services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their DAB-enabled tuner or radio. The national BBC services now available are as follows:

BBC Radio 1
BBC 1Xtra
BBC Radio 2
BBC Radio 3
BBC Radio 4
BBC Radio Five Live
BBC Five Live Sports Extra
BBC 6 Music
BBC 7
BBC World Service
