 | Officially powered-up today, Kent's multiplex is carrying five stations in stereo on DAB digital radio. The stations currently broadcasting are as follows:BBC Radio Kent : news, information and music (BBC Radio)Invicta FM : pop and contemporary music (Radio Invicta Ltd.)Capital Gold : classic hits and oldies (Radio Invicta Ltd.)Kent Digital Extra : classic hits with local news (Kent Messenger Ltd. subsidiary)Xfm : modern rock, dance and alternative music (Capital Radio plc)
A number of other services are planned for the multiplex, including Swale Sound, which has pencilled in an end-of-May launch. Other stations originally planned for the multiplex are Totally Radio playing breakbeat, chilled and specialist music and Saga Radio specialising in easy listening music. Totally Radio was also due to appear on the Sussex Coast multiplex and Saga Radio on the local ensemble for Leicester. Existing DAB digital radio owners should perform a re-scan or Autotune with their radio over the next few months to be certain of picking up all services and any future stations that should launch on the multiplex. To receive DAB digital radio stations in the UK, you need a DAB digital radio - a new type of radio that can receive digital radio broadcasts.
