 | The Ashford transmitter boosts coverage of national commercial DAB digital radio for almost 120,000 people in Ashford and parts of the M20. The Faversham transmitter provides coverage for around 316,000 people in north Kent, including the Isle of Sheppey and Faversham. The new DAB transmitter at Thanet improves coverage in east Kent, including Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs - reacheing around 219,000 people. Finally, the new installation at Chartham boosts coverage for Canterbury, the A2 and A28 for more than 142,000 people. The switch-on means that Virgin Radio is now being broadcast in stereo on DAB digital radio in these areas. Following the switch-on of the new digital radio transmitter early in the latter part of March 2004, listeners with a DAB digital radio in the above areas should now be able to pick up the national digital services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their DAB-enabled tuner or radio.
