News of the expansion reinforces the BBC's commitment to providing 85 per cent coverage, for the UK population, of its national DAB digital radio services, by the end of 2004. |
 | Following the switch-on of these new digital radio transmitters, BBC 6 music, comedy, books and plays station BBC7 and urban/r&b music station 1Xtra will be available to listeners with a DAB digital radio in these areas. News of the BBC's expansion to its digital network follows recent installations of transmitters at Poole and Bournemouth, Hastings and Norwich. Listeners with a DAB digital radio in these areas can receive the new services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their DAB-enabled tuner or radio. By the end of the month, other listeners in Plymouth, West Sussex, Honiton, Dorchester, Weymouth, Tunbridge Wells and Ashford can pick up the new services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their DAB digital radio.
