Juice flows into hands of Absolute Radio

Absolute Radio UK has clinched a deal for ownership of Liverpool-based Juice 107.6 FM understood to be worth GBP3.1million.

AR-UK, currently bidding for FM licences in West Midlands and Glasgow, is backed by Irish media company UTV, Europe-based ARI and Eurocast.

The acquisition marks the first deal by UTV outside Ireland, where it controls Dublin's Lite FM, Cork's 96 and 103FM and Limerick's Live 95FM.

Clive Dickens, Programme and Operations Director of AR-UK confirmed the station's future under the current Juice team. He commented "Juice is currently one of the UK's fastest growing radio stations and we at AR-UK intend to build on the recent successes of the existing management team with further investment in more localised programming, quality news and outstanding marketing. It is our intention to help the local team make this award winning radio station number one for young people in Liverpool."

Forever Broadcasting plc, which made the sale, retains Brighton-based Juice 107.2.
