The Idle installation will enable around 100,000 people to tune in to services on the BBC's national DAB multiplex for the first time. |

More people in Manchester - over 1 million - will now be able to tune in to the BBC's national services, thanks to the introduction of the Picadilly transmitter, which also improves the signal for a large group of listeners. The introduction of new transmitters is part of the BBC's plan to offer coverage of its national DAB services to 85 percent of the population by the end of 2004. Listeners with a DAB digital radio can receive the new services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their tuner or radio.
