 | A transmitter serving a huge area for 760,000 new listeners has been added at Rowridge to serve Portsmouth, Southampton, Isle of Wight and surrounding areas. The addition of the new transmitter boosts the signal for another 180,000 people. The introduction of new transmitters is part of the BBC's plan to offer coverage of its national DAB services to 85 percent of the population by the end of 2004. The BBC announced previously it had launched transmitters in Dover and Bromsgrove as part of the plan. Listeners with a DAB digital radio can receive the new services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their tuner or radio. The services now available are as follows:
