Q up to join Freeview digital radio channels

The best of the UK's current and classic pop and rock is set to be showcased on a brand new digital radio station from 1st July, called Q Radio.

Appearing on the Freeview Digital Terrestrial Television platform, the new channel will be available to viewers with a set-top box.

Playing an eclectic selection of music, the 24/7 station claims to have "broken into your house and stolen your CD collection". Tracks from The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Lionel Richie, Moloko and Coldplay will feature alongside soul, alternative and new rock music.

The new station will launch on channel 86.

Q Radio joins easy-listening Magic 105.4 from London on channel 85 and pop station The Hits, which is broadcast from Manchester and carries programming from local station Key 103. The Hits can be found on channel 84.

The launch of the three new stations on the digital TV platform is part of an expansion by Emap Digital Radio to add further services alongside Kiss 100, Kerrang! and Smash Hits Radio.

The new stations can be picked up by performing a scan for additional services using the services setup menu.

Emap Digital Radio has recently launched a microsite to promote the accessibility of digital radio on DAB, digital tv and on the internet.
