| Tuesday, 20th May 2003 What a PrimeTime to go stereoPrimeTime Radio has chosen its third birthday to boost its transmission rate on the national DAB digital radio multiplex, which means it can now be heard in stereo across a large area of the UK. The station, Saga Group's national oldies and easy listening music station, originally broadcast only in mono. Since a downgrading of sports talk station talkSPORT earlier in the month from 80Kbps to 64Kbps and a juggle of two spare channels on the multiplex operated by Digital One, which reduced their bitrate from 48Kbps to 32Kbps, the station was able to negotiate extra capacity to achieve its upgrade. |
