   station directory latest radio news air today feedback features  |  Monday, 28th April 2003 Crown Castle announce new 13 year contract with the BBC Crown Castle UK Limited has announced that it has signed a contract with the BBC to roll-out Phase 2 of the BBC's DAB digital radio network. The contract will mean that Crown Castle will roll-out and operate 47 new DAB transmitters in the UK. Phase 2 of the BBC's DAB network is scheduled for completion in 2004 and will increase digital radio coverage from the current 65 percent of the UK population to 85 percent. |
 | Jenny Abramsky, director of BBC Radio, explained: "Ensuring Digital Radio reaches more people in the UK is an important part of the BBC's digital plans. Because of its importance to us we wanted to be confident that the successful bidder would understand our needs and be able to deliver the network we required on time and to budget." Peter Abery, president and managing director at Crown Castle UK, commenting on the agreement said: "This is great news for Crown Castle and reflects our growing reputation for delivering large-scale network projects on time and on budget.
