Tindle Radio and Absolute Radio (almost) come out in The Wash

With the launch of the new local DAB radio multiplex for Norwich just days away, the results of the local radio advertisment for North Norfolk are now in. Two companies are competing to run a new FM station for Wells-next-the-Sea, Sheringham, Fakenham and Cromer, east of The Wash.

Absolute Radio's go-fm is pitching for an audience over the age of 25 with music from artists such as Sheryl Crow, The Eagles, John Lennon and Bob Marley. Local news, business and sports news, travel information and promotion of charity events will form part of go-fm's remit.

Go-fm is a collaboration between Absolute Radio (UK) Ltd, local media company Central Norfolk Radio Ltd (CNR) and Norwich City Football Club plc. The station has run five trial broadcasts since 1998.

Tindle Radio-backed North Norfolk Radio hopes to play classic hits and contemporary music to the people of North Norfolk, with local news and information a priority. Tindle already operate Great Yarmouth's The Beach and have held two RSL (short-term) licence broadcasts since 1999.

A decision is expected by the commercial radio regulator by early summer.
