Stone me! Six applicants for Maidstone FM radio licence

The Medway town of Maidstone is one step closer to getting its own radio station, as six potential operators have submitted applications to the Radio Authority.

The line-up of applicants includes GO FM, hoping to convince the Authority that the area needs a station for the over-30s with music and entertainment.

Also in the running is talk-and-music station Maidstone Live and MLR, which will bring local personalities to the radio scene. RFM will source its music from the last 30 years, whilst Stone FM promises to be an "innovative, dynamic and exciting station" with its service. Long-serving RSL broadcaster 20/20fm will broadcast local news, views and information.

A decision as to who will win the licence is expected in Spring of this year.
