   station directory latest radio news air today feedback features  |  Thursday, 7th November 2002 MXR Digital emerge as winner in Yorkshire regional DAB multiplex award Regional DAB digital radio operator MXR Digital has beaten competition from Yorkshire and Humberside Digital Radio (YHDR) to secure another licence award, this time in Yorkshire and Humberside. With a station line-up that mimics that of the regional multiplex in South Wales and the West of England, MXR Digital is planning to launch eight full-time services and a rolling national and regional news station: |
 | Urban Choice : urban sounds (Soul Media Ltd) Capital Disney : top 40 pop music for teens, plus Disney programmes (Walt Disney/Capital Radio plc) Heart : adult MOR (Chrysalis Radio Ltd) Jazz FM : classic and new jazz & soul music (Jazz FM plc) The Arrow : classic and current rock music (Chrysalis Radio Ltd) Smooth : easy listening music (GMG plc) DNN : national and local news (DNN Ltd) Galaxy : contemporary dance and r&b music (Chrysalis Radio Ltd) Real Radio : adult contemporary music and talk (GMG plc) The multiplex will cover most of South and West Yorkshire as well as parts of North Yorkshire and Humberside and is expected to launch in June 2003. Real Radio currently broadcasts on the West and South Yorkshire local DAB digital radio multiplexes, but it is thought these services will make way for Emap's modern rock station Kerrang!, which is currently available on the Freeview Digital Terrestrial Television platform. Real Radio has also disappeared from the Teeside and Tyne & Wear multiplex, increasing speculation that the new radio brand will also launch on these multiplexes. Related links: |
