   station directory latest radio news air today feedback features  |  Tuesday, 18th June 2002 A cornucopia of brand new stations to hit Yorkshire in 2003 Established regional digital radio player MXR Ltd and newcomer Yorkshire and Humberside Digital Radio (YHDR) could set the airwaves alight around the Yorkshire regional in time for Easter next year, as both have applied to run the new DAB digital radio multiplex for the area. The coverage area will include the former West and South Yorkshire counties and parts of North Yorkshire and Humberside. |
 | The commercial radio regulator could face a difficult decision as to which company it awards the licence. Both applications feature Yorkshire's Real Radio and Galaxy 105, but YHDR are hoping to impress with additional part-time services as part of an umbrella channel called Your Yorkshire. MXR's lineup imitates its other regional multiplexes. MXR Ltd already operate regional DAB digital radio multiplexes in the North-East and North-West of England, in South Wales and The West of England and in the West Midlands. The portfolio of stations in their application is as follows: Urban Choice : urban sounds (Soul Media Ltd) Capital Disney : top 40 pop music for teens, plus Disney programmes (Walt Disney/Capital Radio plc) Heart : adult MOR (Chrysalis Radio Ltd) Jazz FM : classic and new jazz & soul music (Jazz FM plc) The Arrow : classic and current rock music (Chrysalis Radio Ltd) Smooth : easy listening music (GMG plc) DNN : national and local news (DNN Ltd) Galaxy : contemporary dance and r&b music (Chrysalis Radio Ltd) Real Radio : adult contemporary music and talk (GMG plc) Yorkshire & Humberside Digital Radio (The Yorkshire Digital Radio Co.
