2002 Sony Radio Award winners announced

Oneword has walked off with the Sony Gold Award for Digital Terrestrial Station of the Year.

The station was nominated alongside easy listening and talk station PrimeTime Radio and pop music station Cube, but impressed the judges with its "ambition and its commitment to new writers".

UK Station of the Year was won by BBC Radio 2 for the second year in succession. Liverpool's Radio City is also celebrating a Gold Award for Station of the Year (audience over 1 million adults) and BBC Radio Cumbria picked up a Gold Award for Station of the Year (audience between 300,000 and 1 million adults) for its output.

Milton Keynes' FM103 Horizon scooped the Station of the Year Award (audience under 300,000 adults) at the ceremony last Thursday.

The Station Sound Award was won by London's Kiss 100, the Sony Radio Academy 2001 Award was presented to the BBC World Service. Veteran presenter John Peel was awarded the night's Gold Award.

The award highlights are available to view at the official website, below.
