|  Thursday, 25th OctoberNetwork Y will be first out of the starting blocks as one of the new BBC radio services The albums, archives and classic interviews digital radio station Network Y will go on air in January 2002, it has been announced. Originally, urban station Network X was planned to launch at the start of next year, but the station's dedicated news service is still in development. The station must meet a requirement of 20% speech output, of which 10% will be centred on news. This has pushed the on-air date back to May. BBC Five Live Sports Extra will also be launched in January and the new national BBC Asian Network will be on-air next Autumn. Network Z, the speech-based service, will start in summer 2002. |
