Omagh and Enniskillen tune in to new station in 2002

Northern Ireland's brand new FM radio station serving Omagh and Enniskillen will launch in 2002. Radio West FM will bring a new local radio service to the area, with a mix of easy listening music, traditional Irish country music and current chart music. Local news and community information will also be broadcast to listeners in Omagh, Enniskillen, Tyrone and Fermanagh.

"The Radio Authority is pleased to be able to award a licence for Omagh & Enniskillen. All three of the applicants met the statutory criteria for the award of licences and Members were faced with a particularly difficult decision. We weighed up a whole range of considerations over a long meeting and will publish a detailed assessment of the winning application later this month."
