| Friday, 11th May 2001 Extra interest in Thamesmead licence With the Thamesmead local radio licence up for grabs, three groups have applied to run a station for the area from 1st January 2003. The existing station, Millennium FM, run by Fusion Radio, faces competition from Starmela.co.uk, an Asian community station promising music, news and features for the local population. Also in the running is Unity FM, which aims to be a cross-cultural station playing hits from the last four decades. The two stations hope to pursuade the Radio Authority that their proposals are better than the current station, which plays chart music alongside news and sport. |
