Real Radio on-air now in Newcastle and Sheffield

Real Radio, the new radio brand from Guardian Media Group, has launched on the South Yorkshire and Tyne & Wear local digital radio multiplex. The station launched in Liverpool on the same date, as we reported first in an earlier news story. Currently the station is playing music, with jingles announcing the start of a networked broadcast across all 7 of the Emap local digital radio multiplexes. Presenters and phone-in shows are expected to feature on the station at a later date.
