External aerials work best when they are mounted somewhere high-up, preferably in the loft or on the outside of a house or flat. It's advisable to point a DAB aerial towards the direction of the transmitter (if a 3-element aerial is being used) and out of the line of any trees or other buildings, if possible. You can also try using an external digital radio aerial to see if you can pick up multiplexes that you wouldn't normally receive, however some experimentation may be required! DAB digital radio signal boosters are also available - these improve the signal to your DAB digital radio/tuner by ampliying the signal are are suitable in times of poor reception. More information can be found in the left-hand column below. A DAB signal booster should help to improve the quality of signal reaching your radio, though they are not suitable when there is no DAB coverage in your area. If the product has an adjustable gain, it is advisable to turn the gain up only as much as is necessary as too much signal also causes problems if there is a lot of 'noise' boosted along with the actual signal. IMPORTANT: Use QP41U (an F-connector convertor) to connect your signal booster or (non-specific) external aerial to your DAB radio F-connector aerial input via a coaxial cable, e.g. QQ73Q |
