DAB radio postcode check Tweet ![]() | Saturday, 10th December 2011 BBC launches two new DAB radio transmitters The BBC has launched a new transmitter at Varteg Hill, Ystradgynlais, serving the town and A4067 upper Swansea valley area. Another transmitter serving Conwy and Llandudno is also up and running. Listeners in the above areas with a DAB radio will be able to pick up national digital radio stations from the BBC. BBC r&b station 1Xtra and sports commentary station 5 Live Sports Extra are both included in the bouquet of national digital radio stations available from the BBC. To receive DAB digital radio stations in the UK, you need a DAB digital radio - a type of radio that can receive digital radio broadcasts. An ordinary FM radio will not tune in to stations on DAB. Listeners with a DAB digital radio in and around the above areas will be able to receive the BBC's national services by performing an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their DAB digital tuner or radio.
