EPG system to see debut at IBC

Ensigma, a division of Imagination Technologies, will be demonstrating a Bug DAB digital radio with Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) support at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), taking place from September 9th-14th in Amsterdam.

Ensigma’s EPG receiver and front-end software enables users to browse programmes for a single station or all programmes on at a particular time, and to select them for scheduled listening or recording to SD memory card.

Both Ensigma and PURE Digital have been actively involved in the WorldDAB EPG TaskForce’s development of a new open standard EPG. Trials have been taking place in the UK and Canada over the last few months and broadcasts of the new EPG format are expected to air in late 2004. PURE Digital is expected to have the first EPG-enabled consumer products, starting with a software update for The Bug, by the end of 2004. The USB-enabled Bug radio can be upgraded with new functionality by the user using software downloaded from the manufacturer's website.
